Have you ever noticed that landfills (AKA “the dump”) these days go to great lengths to establish and maintain a good amount of “foliage” on the site? And I’m not talking just ice plant, but full-blown palm trees, grass…real nice stuff.
I was there today, unloading the seventeen tons of packaging that baby shower gifts come with, and thinking: “this place has better landscaping than my house; the smells are comparable, but the landscaping is definitely nicer.”
where you live maybe. here in m’sia, dumps are DUMPS. places you don’t wanna compare your house to.
heh~
I think all that nice land is due to all of the rotten food. That breaks down and feeds the soil, and oddly enough makes something ugly look gorgeous. I throw rotten fruit and veggies into the garden I work on with my aunt, it acts as manure.
But – the dumps around here, no where near pretty ha-ha.
LOL! Have you ever noticed that the grass in cemetaries is also unusually green?
Hey, the dump doesn’t have to look like a dump.
Those landfills are a shame but we’ve got to put our shit somewhere you know.
Gotta love that triumph of PR. How did a rubbish dumps become ‘landfills’? They’re DUMPS for Pete’s sake!
True ’nuff. I’m glad to see that there are others who share my passion for landdumps.
Well, I can’t really say that ours has beautiful landscape. Will take notes next time. LOL!
its so we don’t feel so guilty when we add to the pile
