I finally gave in and purchased David Allen’s Getting Things Done – the book that’s almost inspired a cult among people who want to keep their lives in order…and I couldn’t be much more pleased.
If you’re looking for a way to get all of the “stuff” in your life under control, you absolutely must consider the GTD method. I put it off far too long because I didn’t know what I was missing. Take my advice: get the book.
One of the things I’m realizing as I go through this process is that there are so many people using GTD in their every day lives, that there are a seemingly infinite number of variations on the approach. My method is most likely another derivation.
So, I’ll be composing a little something over the course of the next few days (it will probably end up being a static page, so as to be more accessible for those of you who are getting started) that details how I’m using GTD with technology (i.e. the web, my Nokia Communicator 9300, e-mail) to help me take control of all the “stuff.”
