Sometimes I learn lessons, and forget to implement my new learnings. It’s true.
One of those instances occurred last week, whereby all of my Joomla/Mambo installations fell victim to the malice of some dude on a small island off of Madagascar (at least, that’s where my server thinks he’s from). As best as I can tell, he was able to access my sites via the much-rumored PHP exploit of a few months back. Regardless, the complete ruining of my Friday, Saturday and Sunday was not his fault, but my own…because the newest security updates of Mambo and Joomla would have prevented such attacks from occurring.
So, we’re back up and running, I’ve re-learned my lesson, and am behaving like a decent part-time web administrator.
I’ll post details of the CMS fiasco in the next few days, for those who are interested.
