Hey, thanks to all of you who have been texting, emailing and calling over the last 36 hours or so. The San Diego County wildfires sent the girls and me running from our (recently rebuilt) home in Ramona, but we’re with family watching the coverage.
I’ve setup my own little online command post here, so if you’re interested in seeing what sites I’m following, read on.
Technorati Tags: fire, harris fire, wildfires, witch creek fire
Here are the sites that have been open for the last couple of days on my machine. Let me note that my recent switch to OmniWeb is serving me brilliantly – having a quick visual preview of all these tabs is huge, and not crashing every hour is super handy.
- San Diego County Emergency Homepage
- KPBS, San Diego – and check out their unbelievable Google Maps map, and their realtime Twitter updates. These guys have it right.
- KUSI – Channel 9, San Diego
- North County Times
- Ramona Sentinel
- Sign On San Diego (Union Tribune)
- KOGO, AM 600
Throw up some comments if this list is helpful for you, and I’ll continue to post any new sites that I discover.

Hope you enjoyed your time out of the house. A little free time from the chores. I arrived back from Texas Thursday night, just in time for the lifting of the evacuation order. Spent my 3 days at home cleaning up the mess left over from the winds. Lost a pretty big limb off one of the trees, but it gave me a reason to break out the chain saw.
