Podcast Playlist: October, 2006

It occurred to me this evening that I spend a tremendous amount of time listening to podcasts, yet I’ve never published a list of my “favorite” podcasts here on Turnipville. Let’s change that.

What follows is a list of podcasts that are routinely updated by my iTunes – with links for your pleasure.

You might be interested to hear that we’re working on a script and format for a Turnipville podcast. More details will follow…

The RIAA: Gravediggers…For Musicians

It’s no secret that I’m not a fan of music piracy, but the RIAA is trying to single-handedly alienate every individual who might spend money on music. Between Sony and their rootkits, and the RIAA’s lawsuits against grandmothers and four-year-olds, I couldn’t have much more distaste for the direction this industry is heading…

..and this article gives me hope. Go Patricia; give ‘em hell.

Country Medley

It’s no secret that I’m not a “country fan.”

Sure, I like Garth, some old school Toby Keith, and even the occasional Tim McGraw. But can I handle listening to a local country station all day?

Hardly.

This is a problem…because my new boss and secretary both listen to country. Though I’ve got my iBoom in my office, there are many times that I need to leave the sanctuary of rock and talk to the hillbillies. And given that the country station here in town plays the same seven songs in immediate rotation, I’ve unwillingly learned alot of new lyrics.

It’s time for me to create my own medley:

Come a little closer baby, cuz tequila makes her clothes fall off, and that’s something to be proud of.

This is what I love about Sundays at the Redneck Yacht Club.”

Korn: Three Thumbs Up

If you’re at all into Korn, take the soonest opportunity to see them in concert.

Last night’s performance at 4th and B was nothing short of electrifying…even without Head in the band. BTW, Monkey did an excellent job of covering all of the guitar parts (especially with that dude hiding behind the curtain, playing guitar).
