History

Turnipville.com has been around since 2000, having been established while I was a senior at The Academy.

The first version of Turnipville actually had its home over at geocities, and is still available here. At this time, Turnipville was just a collection of photos and other stupid stuff that we threw up on the web. Sometime in early 2001 I actually added a notice to the frontpage, letting people know that it was defunct.

In late 2001, I purchased the domain turnipville.com, and simply carried the same idea from geocities over to my new domain. By this time, we were all up at graduate school (MIT)…so it became a collection of party pictures. Seriously, there wasn’t much of anything going on here other than a forum that several of us screwed around with.

You can actually see some of the many different designs I went through, by visiting the Internet Archive. It changed often..

It was during that year at MIT that I began writing and recording music pretty consistently, and I began to use Turnipville to distribute some of it.

Through 2002 and part of 2003, I continued to play with the page, and share some of my home-produced music.

In 2003, I purchased my first home out here in San Diego, and turned the second bedroom into a recording studio. I gutted it, and really had a cool set up. So Turnipville Recordings started up, and Turnipville.com became an outlet both for my self-produced music and the studio….including the distribution of my self-released album “The Patch”, and information about live performances.

I was married in late 2004, and the studio was dismantled. So, a revamp of the website was in order…and that’s where we are now.

I’ve since introduced a blog, retained some photos, and added some other bells and whistles. Turnipville will again, someday, be a distro network for Turnip music..but it will always been an outlet for whatever the hell I feel like.

It’s hard to believe that I’ve been polluting the internet since 2000, but it’s hard to imagine not doing it.
